Democrats hope that the traditionally Republican-leaning 12th Senate District could flip this year because the district lines include much of the highly competitive 11th Congressional District that will be vacant because U.S. Rep. David Trott, R-Birmingham, has decided not to run for reelection.

The race has generated intense enthusiasm on the Democratic side and Rosemary Bayer, the Beverly Hills co-founder of ardentCause L3C, a technology company that serves nonprofit organizations, is hoping to capitalize on that. She is running unopposed in the primary election.

Annual Rouge River Cleanup More than Just Picking up Trash

Beverly Hills, MI – Every spring, volunteers from various Rouge communities work together to clean-up and preserve the Rouge River and its surroundings for future generations. Friends of the Rouge is a nonprofit established in 1986. That year, the first Rouge Rescue event comprised removing large quantities of trash from the river. Since then, the clean-up efforts have evolved to comprise invasive species removal, the planting of native species to stabilize stream banks, and wood debris management within the river.
